Hey there! I'm not super tech-savvy, but I need some advice. My boyfriend accidentally spilled water on his desk, and it dripped into his PC without him realizing it. We were watching a show when suddenly, the monitor started glitching, and then a blue screen popped up that mentioned something about 'no operating system available' (I might not remember it exactly). He turned the PC off and then saw the water inside it. We opened up the case and found some tiny white oxidation spots on the motherboard and graphics card. We can't detach the parts right now since we don't have a screwdriver and it's late. Is the PC fixable? If so, what's the typical cost? We're both broke college students, so we'd like to know if this is going to set us back financially. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like the motherboard might have shorted out. I'd recommend taking it to a local repair shop to get a quote. They can check it out and see if it’s salvageable without breaking the bank.
Totally had a similar situation happen! I spilled a full glass of water on my PC once, and it turned off instantly. I unplugged everything and let it dry out for a couple of days with fans pointed at it. Amazingly, it worked fine after I put it back together!
Maybe there's hope for yours too—just make sure to dry it thoroughly!
And don’t forget to clean any oxidation spots with an electrical cleaner. You want to avoid any future issues from residue left by the water.
Honestly, your best bet might be to look for a new PC if the damage is extensive, because water damage usually voids warranties. However, getting a repair shop to assess it might uncover some salvageable parts that could save you a bit.
Just remember not to turn it on again until it’s had a chance to dry out completely!
