Hey everyone! I'm starting an internship in a tech company, and I have a background in tech support, but I'm still learning the ropes, especially with more complicated admin tasks. On my first day, the admin mentioned a project to upgrade all the agencies in our region to SD WAN. Since some of the networking hardware is outdated, he asked me to find a solution to map all the assets in the company, like printers, switches, computers, etc. Ideally, we want a local server solution that can present a geographic map of all the sites, secure access, and have a feature to display all assets related to a specific location. I've heard of GLPI with a mapping plugin and a tool called HUDU from a previous job, but I'm not sure how they work or how to implement them. Any suggestions or insights would be really appreciated!

You should definitely check out Switch Center from Lan-Secure! They offer a 30-day free trial, and while it might not provide a full geographical map, it helps you visualize which switches and ports are connected where. It's pretty user-friendly, and if you have the passwords for the switches, it gives you much more info beyond just SNMP. This could be a solid starting point for your project. Here's their site for more details: [Lan-Secure Switch Center](https://www.lan-secure.com/SwitchCenterDetails.htm).
I get your concern. I'm not being left to handle this alone; the admin wants me to research options and then we'll discuss together. It’s more about giving him a few suggestions to work with!
That makes sense! Just gather what you can find and let him guide you from there. It’s a great way to learn!
