Hey everyone! I'm gearing up to build my first PC and I'm a bit lost on what specs I should consider. I want to avoid overspending, especially since I'm not planning on playing super demanding games. I was looking at a Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU and an RTX 5070 Ti GPU, but my brother thinks I might be going overboard with those high-end parts. I'm mainly interested in playing games like Minecraft, Stardew Valley, Roblox, Honkai Star Rail, and Wuthering Waves. Additionally, I need my setup to handle programs like Solidworks and Fusion for my university courses. Can anyone suggest what specs I should aim for to keep my budget in check?

For the games you mentioned, a GPU like the 7600 XT or 7800 XT should do just fine! You don't need the super high specs unless you want to play more demanding games in the future.
Going with higher specs can help future-proof your build since games will keep evolving. It's a personal choice: spend more now for longevity, or save and upgrade sooner. Check which of your main games has the highest requirements, then base your specs off that. Generally, for memory, 16GB seems to be the norm, but aiming for 32GB might be a safer bet if you want to keep it relevant for a while. For CPUs, a Ryzen 5 7500F paired with a 7800 XT or RTX 5070 should work well without breaking the bank. This could definitely serve you for the next 4-5 years!
I appreciate the advice! I realize I should consider future-proofing more. I was worried about overspending, but it’s good to know I don’t need to stress too much about it. Right now, the most demanding games I want to play need about a GTX 2060 or RX 5700XT, and they usually recommend at least 16GB of RAM. I'm thinking a Ryzen 5 7500F with either the 7800 XT or RTX 5070 would keep costs down, going from 3k AUD to around 2k AUD.
Thanks for the tip! Do you think the 7800X3D would be too much, or is it worth it to go slightly lower?
