I'm having a bit of a panic here after my iPhone completely died while charging alongside my grandma's phone and a power bank. It won't charge at all — not even showing the dead battery symbol. I've tried everything, including a factory reset, but the Apple Store and Verizon are stumped too. Since I have insurance through Boost Mobile, I can get a replacement iPhone 16. However, I'm worried about maintaining my phone number and Apple ID. All my important accounts, like social media and subscriptions, are tied to my Apple ID, and I can't confirm my identity for two-factor authentication without my phone. If I get a new phone, will I be able to keep my old number? I need some reassurance, so I'm reaching out while I'm on my iPad!

Don't stress too much! If your new phone uses an eSIM, just contact your carrier after you get the new phone. They can help you transfer your number to the new device without any hassle.
You should be fine! The phone number is connected to your account, not just your device, so when you get the new iPhone, you can still use your old number. Just make sure you know your Apple ID password. If you’re logged into your iPad with the same Apple ID, you can approve the login with MFA when you get the new phone. You can also try checking iCloud.com to see if you can access your account from there.
I’m using my grandma’s iPad too! Just keep your fingers crossed for that number to come through.
Totally get your worries! But there's a solid chance you'll keep the same number!

Thanks for the tip! I didn’t even think about the eSIM!
