What to do if M.2 screw is stuck on my motherboard?

I'm currently building my PC using a Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX V2 motherboard, but I've run into an issue: the M.2 screw for the slot closest to the CPU is completely stuck. I can't get it to spin, but my screwdriver does turn. I'm wondering if I can just use the other M.2 slots on the motherboard instead. Is there any significant difference? I've heard that the slot nearest to the CPU is preferable, but I'm not sure if it matters with this particular motherboard. For context, I'm installing a PCIe 4.0 SSD.

If it's a new motherboard, you might want to consider getting it exchanged while you still can. Just mention it was defective since the screws are stripped and you're within the return period! More importantly, though, if the other M.2 slots work fine, you can absolutely use them instead. Generally, people say the first slot is better for speed, but in many cases, the difference isn't huge.

So you're saying the other slots will work just as well for most users? That's good to know!
