What to do if my phone fell in water?

I recently dropped my phone in the bathroom sink and it got wet for just a moment. I quickly pulled it out, took off the case, and wiped everything down. However, I'm not comfortable opening the phone to take out the SIM card, as I'm worried I might damage it. The phone is about 5 years old, and it's water resistant, but I'm really anxious since this happened right before I had to head to school. I haven't plugged it in yet to check if the charging port is wet, but it looks dry from what I can see. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

UPDATE: I tried using a phone frequency tool to help remove any water, and checked the charging port again - it looks dry and no warnings came up. I plan to inform my dad who's tech-savvy to help me fix it. Thank you to everyone who offered real advice instead of just telling me to buy a new phone!

Try putting it in a bag of desiccant if you have some, or leave it in a warm, dry area with a fan on for about 48 hours. Just remember that water resistance can decrease over time.

Honestly, I'd recommend just getting a new phone. It might not be worth the stress.

Was it totally submerged or just splashed? If it was only splashed and the charging port is dry, that’s a good sign!

It was a bit of both; it slipped in right as water was running, but I checked and the charging port is dry.

If your phone is water resistant, it's likely going to be okay! Just leave it in a dry place so it can air out. Don't rush to charge it until you're sure it's completely dry.
