What to do if my PSU CPU cable doesn’t fit on the motherboard?

Hey everyone, I'm upgrading my setup and I ran into a problem. I recently purchased an ASUS ROG Strix B850-A GAMING WIFI motherboard along with an RM850X PSU (2024 model). The CPU cable connects fine to the power supply, but it doesn't match the CPU header shape on the motherboard. I'm wondering if it's safe to split the CPU cables into two 4-pin connections and plug them into CPU Header 1 and CPU Header 2. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

You should be able to plug the split cables into one header without any issues. Those 8-pin headers can often be split, and they typically fit in standard setups. Just make sure the connector goes in correctly; it’s designed to fit properly so don’t worry too much about the shape of the pins.

Thanks for the reassurance! I was worried it wouldn’t fit right.

Honestly, as long as the connectors fit in the designated ports, you're good to go. The shapes of the pins might differ slightly between the motherboard and the PSU cable, which can sometimes be a bit confusing. If the connector splits into two 4-pins, that’s the right kind for your setup. Just ensure it’s seated correctly!
