I have an iPhone 13 that stuck on a black screen. It was at least half-charged the last time I checked, so I'm pretty sure it's not a battery problem. I've tried the volume button sequence and holding the power button to force reset it, but that didn't work. Plugging it into my MacBook didn't help either; when I tried to update it, I got an error message saying it was unable to update. Restoring it to factory settings also failed with a similar error. I'm not keen on taking it to a repair shop just yet, so I'm looking for any recommendations to fix this.

It might be best to take it to the Apple Store for a diagnosis. They could determine if you need a new battery or if there's another issue at play. It's worth a shot!
When updates or restores fail, they usually throw an error code. Do you remember seeing any error code? Also, if your iPhone has a passcode, you might be stuck on the 'Trust this Computer' message, which could keep you from seeing anything on your screen.
Unfortunately, I can't check for the error code since the screen won't turn on at all.

I'll give that a try!
