What to Do When My GPU Fan Isn’t Working?

I've got an XFX Radeon RX 590 Fatboy 8 GB, and I'm having some trouble. When I'm just idling or watching videos, the temp sits around 50-55°C. But when I play games like Palworld, it starts heating up to 80-95°C and my PC crashes. The weird thing is, the second fan on the GPU never kicks in, no matter how hot it gets. Is there any way to fix this issue?

If the fan itself is still connected, then it might just be dead. You could buy a replacement fan if possible. Another option to consider is using MSI Afterburner to adjust fan speeds, but considering the age of your GPU, it might just need a fan replacement.

It sounds to me like your second fan might just be worn out or defective. It might be time to replace it. If you're struggling to find a compatible replacement fan, a low-budget hack is to remove the shroud and zip tie some case fans to the GPU heatsink. If your budget allows, upgrading to a newer GPU could be a better long-term solution, but I understand that could depend on your financial situation.
