Hey everyone! I have an interview coming up for a Hardware Technician position, which is also known as a System Services Representative. The job involves onsite repairs for various devices like PCs, laptops, printers, and ATMs. I'm curious if anyone here has experience in similar roles or has gone through an interview for something like this. What can I expect during the interview? Are there common questions I should be prepared for? Thanks so much for any insights or advice you can share!

I did a job like this years ago. My role involved going to sites, diagnosing issues, and ordering parts if it turned out to be a hardware problem. Sometimes, though, delays happened because the right part wasn't available, leading to some really unhappy customers. You'll probably be asked how to handle angry customers in the interview, so definitely think about that. Communication is key in this role—keeping customers updated can save you a lot of trouble. You should have support for diagnosing hardware issues, so focus on managing your communications well, both with the stockroom and customers!
Do you have any previous experience relevant to this role?
Yes, I have some Junior field technician experience where I diagnosed and repaired various hardware devices. I've mostly assisted senior technicians with desktops and printers and have also done some co-op work in vulnerability assessments and pen testing. Plus, I studied IT Operations in college.
Very valid points! Managing customer expectations is so important. Thanks for sharing this experience; it's super helpful.
