What to Expect in My Upcoming DCO Trainee Interview?

I recently completed my first interview with a recruiter and just received an invite for a second interview. The email mentioned that this will include two rounds and will focus on behavioral questions. During my first interview, the interviewer asked several technical questions, and they assured me that it was fine if I didn't know the answers. However, I found the behavioral questions a bit unexpected; for instance, they asked about times I had to step out of my comfort zone to complete a task, and they dug deeper into my answers with multiple follow-up questions. I'm curious if the next interview will also include technical questions, and I'm wondering if the two rounds will occur on the same day or span different days? Additionally, any tips for approaching behavioral questions would be awesome, as I am familiar with leadership principles and the STAR method. What can I expect in this next interview?

Sounds like you’re on the right track! Just to clarify, which location are you interviewing for? I had my interview last week; it’d be interesting to compare experiences.

It's great that you made it to the second round! Expect a big focus on behavioral questions since they've mentioned it. AWS interviews usually include a mix of technical and behavioral queries. However, for the second round, you might find that one interview will lean entirely on behavioral, while the other could dive into some technical aspects. As for timing, it's likely they'll take place back-to-back on the same day, but that can vary based on the interviewers' schedules. Make sure you have about 6-8 solid examples ready to adapt for different questions—those follow-ups can really dig into your decision-making process. Definitely keep practicing with the STAR method; it’s super essential for articulating your experiences clearly.

Congrats on getting to the second interview! Given that they’re heavily focusing on behavioral questions, don't be surprised to encounter a few technical ones mixed in, as AWS likes to blend both types throughout the interview process. For the two rounds, you can generally expect them to be scheduled for the same day. Just go in prepared with memorable examples that showcase your problem-solving skills and leadership, particularly under stress. They’ll be keen to know how you navigate difficult situations, not just what decisions you've made. Practicing your thought processes out loud could really help you through the complex follow-up questions!
