Hey everyone! I'm reaching out to see what tools you all use for tracking hardware and firmware on devices, especially in a large-scale deployment scenario. My team is currently working on an on-premise project where we have to manage about 500 to 1000 devices, each with different firmware and software versions, and it's becoming quite a hassle. We're trying to find a solid system that can maintain a clear matrix of these components.

We're using Netbox to track our bare metal servers, VMs, and serial numbers, and while it has some Ansible integration, it hasn't really worked out for our specific tracking needs. Since integration with Ansible is a big win for us, we're looking for any tools that can directly work with our playbooks to support automation and ensure consistency in our deployments. Have any of you dealt with a similar challenge and found effective solutions? Any suggestions or insights would be super helpful! Thanks!

We're making the switch to ServiceNow for everything from asset tracking to service desk tickets. It seems to integrate well with Ansible, which is a plus. We manage over 100,000 assets, so scalability is key for us. We also use tools like ISE, Intune, and Lansweeper for monitoring. It could be a good option for you if you have a similar scale!

That's really good to know! I was considering ServiceNow but wasn't sure if it would suit a smaller scale operation. Thanks for the tip!

Just a heads-up, if you're dealing with air-gapped systems, a SaaS solution might not work well for you. You might want to focus on on-premise options that can handle your specific needs instead.
