What upgrades can I make to my old PC for better 1440p gaming?

I'm building a new PC and passing my old one to my fiancé. They'll be using it mainly for gaming and light productivity, like Zoom and Office. It's currently handling a 1440p 144Hz monitor, but I've noticed it's hitting VRAM limits with recent games like Monster Hunter World. I'm planning to add a Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE CPU cooler since the stock cooler is really loud. Are there any other upgrades worth considering to extend the lifespan of this build for 1440p gaming?

If you swap in a 5700x or 5800X3D, you’re set for whatever GPU you decide later. A combo like that with a 4070 Super would be a strong setup without breaking the bank. Just think about your budget when picking a GPU.

Thanks! Would my existing PSU handle those upgrades?

Honestly, your current setup is pretty solid for 1080p gaming, and for 1440p, you might want to keep it as is for now. Upgrading to something like a 5600 or 5700 (or ideally, a 5700X3D) would be good for the future. If you decide to upgrade, focus on a GPU with at least 12GB of VRAM. But wait until you notice real performance drops before making any big moves.
