I bought my prebuilt gaming PC around five years ago, specifically the Skytech Chronos model. It's equipped with an AMD Ryzen 5 5600X CPU, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, an AMD Radeon RX 6800 graphics card, and a 1TB NVMe SSD. It performs well for my needs, mostly gaming on two 1080p monitors, but I think it's time for some upgrades since it's getting older. I'm planning to replace my SSD due to storage issues and thought I might as well make additional upgrades while I'm at it. With a budget of around $1,000 (excluding the SSD), what would be the best upgrades for both gaming and general use?

Honestly, I would hold off on upgrading right now if possible. The prices for new parts are pretty high. If you really want to upgrade your CPU, you could look at moving to a Ryzen 7 5700X, but the performance increase might not be worth it. For something like the 5800X3D, you're looking at sky-high prices, especially compared to newer models like the 7800X3D, which would require new motherboards and DDR5 RAM. If you're looking for the best bang for your buck, consider upgrading your graphics card to something like the RX 9070XT – that would be a substantial improvement for gaming!
It's a tough market right now! If you can provide the refresh rates for your monitors, that could really help in determining if you need to upgrade. And what part of the world are you in? If you're in the US, check if there's a MicroCenter nearby; they sometimes have great deals on components.
You've got a decent system there, and while upgrades are a little limited for AM4 setups, you could still look at a CPU upgrade to a 5500X3D or 5700X, although gains will be minimal. Alternatively, consider waiting until there’s a game that really struggles on your machine before deciding. Adding in another 16GB of RAM wouldn’t hurt, though!

Thanks for the heads-up! I’ll keep that in mind.
