I've had my PC for a few years now, and while it's always been on the cheaper side, it's really struggling with new games. I'm lucky to get 25 fps even on the lowest settings, which is super annoying! Here are my specs:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (6 core)
- GPU: Geforce GTX 1060 (6GB)
- RAM: 16GB
- Storage: 2TB SSD
- Monitor: 75Hz
I'm thinking that my graphics card might need an upgrade first, and maybe my CPU too, but I'm not sure. Any suggestions on what I should prioritize?

I’d say prioritize upgrading your graphics card first. Something with more than 6GB of VRAM would be a significant improvement. Your RAM is decent, but as games evolve, you might want to consider increasing that, especially if you play multitasking-heavy titles. The Ryzen 5 3600 is still a good CPU, but it could hold you back a bit with the latest games. You might not notice as much bottlenecking at higher resolutions, though. With RAM prices being low, it’s a good time to think about that too!
Definitely look into upgrading your graphics card. You could aim for something like the RTX 3060 or even an RX 6600 if you're looking for solid performance. If your motherboard supports it, the new Ryzen 5700x3d could be a great CPU upgrade, just make sure to flash your BIOS to the latest version first. And remember to check your power supply when you do the upgrades!
Yeah, I noticed that too! The Ryzen 5 3600 is AM4, should work with the upgrade without too much fuss.
