I'm looking to upgrade my PC because I'm starting to see a CPU bottleneck, especially with newer games like Battlefield 6. Here's my current setup: an i5-9600k CPU, 32GB of DDR4 RAM, an RTX 3070 GPU, and a 144Hz 1440p monitor. Since I'm a bit late on RAM prices, I'm considering moving to DDR5 for an AM5 socket to avoid getting stuck on an outdated platform.
My plan is to keep my current GPU for now and just upgrade to a mid-range Zen 4 CPU, which should hopefully help with the bottleneck. Later on, I'll look to upgrade to a higher-end CPU and GPU when the next AM5 generation arrives.
I'm wondering if the 7600X will be enough to make the most of the RTX 3070, or would the 7800X3D be a better option despite its higher cost?
Additionally, I'm considering getting a 2x8 DDR5 RAM kit for now and possibly adding a 2x16 RAM kit later for a total of 48GB. Is that a good strategy, or should I aim for 32GB right away?

You should definitely go for a 2x16GB DDR5 kit rather than 4 sticks. Having 4 can cause stability issues, especially with DDR5. The 7600X will perform well enough to keep up with your RTX 3070, so that seems like a solid plan. Save some cash and get a B850 motherboard; it's a good choice for future-proofing your build.

Got it, thanks! I didn’t realize there could be stability issues with 4 sticks. What’s the advantage of the B850 board? Just for future upgrades?
