What’s a ballpark estimate for repairing a broken Acer laptop?

I have an Acer laptop that might be unusable after a loud crack/pop sound came from the charger while I was moving it. Now, the laptop won't turn on, and the charging indicator light isn't showing up at all, even when plugged in. I've double-checked everything, like the charger and extension cord, and tried some simple troubleshooting steps like holding down the power button for over 30 seconds and letting it sit for a while.

The laptop is an Acer Aspire Vero, and it's had its fair share of issues already, including two prior services under warranty, so I'm really torn between repairing it and buying a new one. I suspect something may have short-circuited, and I'm guessing it could just be a battery issue, but I'm worried about the cost of repairs if it's something worse.
