What’s a Good Budget Motherboard for a Ryzen 5 5600X with SSD Support?

Hey everyone! I'm in the process of slowly upgrading my old PC bit by bit. I'm trying to stick to a budget since I only play a few games, like GTA V and the new NBA games, and I want to be set for when GTA 6 drops. I've settled on the Ryzen 5 5600X for now, as I plan to stay on the AM4 platform until AM6 comes out. I'm looking for recommendations on which motherboard to buy. Are B450 motherboards still a good option, or should I go for something better? I plan on installing about a 1TB SSD and 32GB of RAM soon. Any advice would really help! Here's my current setup: ASRock A320M DVS R4.0, Ryzen 3 2200G, GTX 1060 6GB, and 16GB of RAM at 2666MHz (maybe). I noticed my CPU hits 100% usage while gaming, hence the upgrade.

Honestly, the Ryzen 2200G is pretty dated and might not cut it. I recently upgraded my brother's setup with a Ryzen 5 5500 and an MSI B550M Pro-VDH WiFi motherboard, and it only cost around $175 total. It’d be a solid mid-range build, plus it has two Gen4 NVMe slots for SSDs.

That’s a solid suggestion! I might look into that combo too.

If you're trying to keep costs down, you might want to stick with your A320 motherboard. It should support the 5600X as long as you update the BIOS to version P7.10. Just a heads-up, though—it's not going to handle super high MHz RAM very well, and you'll want to check how much SSD space you can slap on there.

I’ve heard similar things! Just curious, how high can you go with the RAM MHz on that board?
