Hey everyone! I'm planning to build a PC and I have a budget of £1400 total. I want to know how much I should allocate towards the CPU specifically. I'm buying from the UK, likely from Currys, but if anyone knows of better alternatives, I'd appreciate the tips!

It really depends on what you’re aiming to do with your build. If it's for gaming, I think putting somewhere around £250 towards the CPU is reasonable. Remember, the whole system matters, so consider how much you’ll allocate for the GPU too!

I’ve had good experiences with Currys regarding their price matching and customer service, so they're a decent option—though why constrain yourself to them? If you're looking for the best prices, also consider stores like Overclockers or Scan. What games are you looking to play? That could influence which CPU you should go for.

I’d recommend spending around £200 on the CPU, especially if your focus is gaming. You’ll want to put most of your budget towards the GPU for better performance. Check out places like Overclockers and Scan for prices; they usually have good deals on components.

Just £200 should do for a solid CPU. But again, it all comes down to what hardware you pair it with. If you're looking at £1400 for the entire build, I’d suggest a decent balance between CPU and GPU.
