I have some PC parts that I'm planning to donate, but I want to make sure to securely wipe the drives beforehand so no data can be recovered. Are there any reliable and free software options available for this?

You might also want to check out ShredOS. It's a newer version that updates some of the features from DBAN and should work well for your needs.

CCleaner has a disk wipe utility, but it might depend on what level of wiping you're looking for. You might want something that ensures data is completely unrecoverable, so just be sure to check that.

What do you mean by 'level'? I just need a way to wipe them so no data can be recovered, but they still remain usable.

If you're looking for a really solid option, I'd recommend DBAN (Darik's Boot and Nuke). I learned about it in college; it’s thorough and effective for wiping drives clean.

Haha, Darik's Boot and Nuke? Classic choice! Definitely does the job!
