What’s a Good Password Manager for Multiple Users That Works Offline?

Our department is looking for a reliable password manager as we handle a lot of customer equipment. Currently, we store login details in our ERP system, which is insecure since it's accessible to anyone with ERP access and is in plaintext. We're considering moving the login information to a dedicated password manager that allows on-site personnel to access it easily without needing to connect to the ERP via hotspot and VPN.

We've been using KeePass XC, which works well for our small IT team, as it's stored on a network drive with nightly backups. However, we're now looking to accommodate about 20 users and over 300 entries. One idea was using KeePass XC on SharePoint for syncing, but it wasn't designed for multi-user access. It has the advantage of having an Android app with auto-deployment via InTune, allowing employees to access it securely through their work profiles.

We're open to paid options if it meets our needs: 20 users needing an up-to-date, offline-password database with individual logins. Are there better options out there? I've checked out Keeper (too expensive), Bitwarden, and Enpass (no multi-user support), but I'm not sure if they would truly be better than KeePass XC. Open to suggestions!

I found Passbolt to be an excellent option for the needs you're describing. It supports collaboration and works well for the multi-user scenario without much hassle.

Vaultwarden is also worth considering. If you're into self-hosting, it works great for multi-user setups and can meet all your requirements. It's especially handy if you're looking to save on subscription costs.

Bitwarden might be the way to go! We switched from PasswordState to Bitwarden and our team loves it. It's perfect for offline and multi-user access, and they have apps for both Android and iOS which can be deployed via InTune. Plus, you can manage shared and personal passwords easily with it.

And they have a business plan that offers a free personal account for your users, which is a nice perk!

1Password is a solid choice! I've used it across teams, and it's fantastic for integrating with other tools. The UX is top-notch too—definitely the best I've seen among password managers! Your team will appreciate it.

Totally agree! Once they try it out, they won't want to switch back. 1Password's design really enhances the user experience.

For sure! I think 1Password offers the best usability compared to its competitors.

1Password Teams is what I'd recommend. You can create team vaults for different groups, which adds an extra layer of security and organization. The advantage is that if someone leaves, there’s no panic over lost passwords since everything’s managed in the shared vault.
