What’s a good upgrade from an i3 12100F while keeping DDR4?

I'm looking to upgrade my current CPU, which is an i3 12100F. I want to stick with DDR4 RAM since that's what I have right now. My other components include a 9060XT graphics card (16GB), an H610M S2H motherboard, and 32GB of DDR4 RAM. I'm considering upgrading either just the CPU or possibly the CPU and motherboard together. Any recommendations?

You might want to consider updating the BIOS and going for a 14600K. Just make sure that your cooler is capable of handling the new CPU; it could help a lot with performance!

Be careful, though! That motherboard may struggle with a 14600K since its VRMs aren't the best. If you want to upgrade to that chip, you should think about getting a Z series motherboard. They usually have better power delivery and features. A Z690 could be a good option; just ensure it supports DDR4 and has a BIOS flashback feature for compatibility.

Good point! I hadn’t thought about the VRMs, but it definitely makes sense to upgrade the board too if you want to push a higher-end CPU.
