I'm considering buying my first gaming PC. My primary use will be for gaming, and I'm open to purchasing used or refurbished parts. I have a budget of around £450. Do you think that's sufficient to build a decent gaming setup?

£450 is a solid starting point, especially if you look around on Facebook Marketplace. You might find some good deals locally that can help you stretch your budget even further!

Thanks for the tip, I'll definitely check that out!

£450 could work, but it really depends on what games you want to play and at what resolution. Are you aiming for something like Overwatch or Elden Ring? If you’re fine with decent graphics rather than top-notch, it might be doable!

Yeah, I want to play those kinds of games but just need decent resolution. I don't need the best graphics since I can't see too much difference.

Honestly, £450 might not get you a great gaming PC. You could just consider getting a console like a PlayStation or Xbox for that price. You're probably not gonna get PC performance that beats those without spending a lot more.

Are you basing that on US prices? I'm in the UK, so things might be different.

Totally agree with you! I spent a pretty penny on my setup and found my console still gives me a better experience right now.

You could look into getting a used AM4 platform, that way you might snag a decent GPU with 8-12GB for around your budget!
