I'm looking to upgrade my current setup, which includes an i3-9100F and an EVGA RTX 3070, while still keeping the i3 as a backup. I'm hoping to transition to a newer generation CPU, ideally from the 11th or 12th generation, but I need to find a motherboard that will support this upgrade and keep me future-proof for the next decade. I also use an NVMe WD Black SN850X and an old HDD. What's the most cost-effective motherboard that can accommodate these components and allow for further upgrades?

It’s important to note that each Intel CPU generation requires a different motherboard. For example, the 8th and 9th gen fit one type of board, while the 10th and 11th need another, and the 12th and 13th generations need yet another different one. So, in a few years, whatever you choose now is going to feel outdated. Plus, if you're getting a new CPU, you might have to change RAM as well!
You're likely best off going for an AM5 motherboard like the B650 or B850 paired with DDR5 RAM (6000MT/s CL30) and a newer CPU, such as the 7500F, 7600X, or even the 9600X. This setup will give you a great upgrade path for the future.

If I get a motherboard for the 12th gen, can I use both Intel and Ryzen CPUs with it?
