I've used iPhones my whole life and find them easy to use for social situations. However, I'm considering switching to something more reliable for personal use. I've heard about people 'hardwiring' their phones or using apps like Brave to ensure their data is private and localized. I'm curious about what the best phone options are in terms of hardware and software. I was considering devices like the Pixel or Samsung and I'm open to spending over $1500 on a solid device that won't become obsolete quickly like an iPhone.
By the way, I've enjoyed my AirPods Max, but like many Apple products, they are starting to have issues, probably due to condensation in the connectors. Are the Sony XM4 and XM5 good alternatives, or is there something better out there with similar noise cancellation?

For what you’re aiming for, the Pixel series also shines, especially for privacy features. Google focuses on keeping your data secure and they regularly provide updates to protect your privacy. Plus, the camera is fantastic!
If you're looking for a solid phone with a great reputation, definitely consider the OnePlus Open. I moved from iPhone to this one recently, and it's been a game changer—so much better in terms of performance and reliability. Plus, it fits the slab criteria you mentioned; no foldable gimmicks here!
Definitely going to look into this, thank you!
