What’s the Best Budget PC Setup for Escape from Tarkov?

I'm planning a budget gaming PC around an MSI B650-P WiFi motherboard and a Ryzen 9 7900X with 32GB of RAM. Escape from Tarkov is the main game I want to play, but I still need a reasonably priced graphics card. I'm also considering used parts and would appreciate advice on which CPU and GPU combination offers the best value without overspending.

An X3D processor would be a better choice than the 7900X if Tarkov is your main game. The extra cache can make a noticeable difference in demanding areas and maps, while you can use a more modest GPU afterward. A 7800X3D paired with an RTX 2060 has been enough for playable 1080p performance, including maps that tend to stress CPUs.

I’ve seen people recommend the 5700X3D or even the 5600X3D as budget options. Would either of those make sense here?

32GB of RAM should be considered the minimum for Tarkov. An X3D chip is worth prioritizing, and a recent Nvidia card may be preferable if you plan to use DLSS. That said, the GPU still doesn’t need to be extremely powerful unless you’re targeting high resolutions or demanding visual settings.

Tarkov benefits heavily from strong CPU performance, especially fast single-core performance. For 1080p or 1440p, a graphics card somewhere around an RTX 4060 to RX 7700 XT should be sufficient, depending on your settings and pricing. You probably don’t need to spend most of the budget on the GPU.

You could save money by choosing a Ryzen 5 7500F or 7600X instead of the 7900X and put the difference toward the GPU. For many games, their gaming performance is surprisingly close to the 7900X, although Tarkov is unusually CPU-sensitive, so an X3D model would be the stronger option if you can fit one into the budget.

The important compatibility detail is that the 5700X3D and 5600X3D use the older AM4 platform, so they won’t work with a B650 motherboard. For AM5, look at options such as the 7800X3D or another compatible X3D chip. If the used 7900X and motherboard bundle is exceptionally cheap, it can still work, but Tarkov may run better with a cheaper X3D processor instead.

The motherboard and processor came as a used bundle I found locally, which is why I was considering them. I’m still comparing prices because I don’t know enough about the platform differences to tell whether it’s actually a good deal.
