I'm looking to build a PC to play BeamNG and want an immersive experience, ideally with lots of traffic, similar to real-life scenarios instead of just the usual 6-10 cars. I'm planning to allocate most of my $2000 budget towards the CPU and RAM rather than the GPU. My setup includes 64GB of DDR5 6000MHz RAM, a TUF X870 motherboard, a Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120SE cooler, a 2TB NVMe drive, a 6TB HDD, and a Corsair RM1000X PSU. Is this configuration good enough, or is it overkill?

If you're just gaming, go for the 9800X3D, it's a powerhouse. But if you also do work on your PC, then maybe think about the 9950X3D instead. Just keep in mind that BeamNG is pretty unique in how it utilizes your CPU, so higher core counts can be beneficial, but it isn't the typical gaming scenario.
You might want to consider going with a B650 or B650E motherboard to save some cash. Also, unless you find an amazing deal, 32GB of RAM should be more than enough; 64GB is probably overkill for your needs. As for that 2080 Ti, it's starting to feel a bit underpowered, so aim for a 3000 series GPU or higher with the money you save. Oh, and I don’t think you need a 16-core CPU for BeamNG, trust me, it’s not worth it for just this game.
Definitely agree! BeamNG is more of a physics sim, and having many CPU threads is crucial since each vehicle uses its own thread. You might want to look into how well the 2950X or 9950X performs, but honestly, don’t go crazy on the CPU. Also, RAM usage can spike heavily with mods; I’ve seen gameplay pull over 30GB, so consider a sweet spot around 48GB.
Right there with you as a fellow BeamNG player! Your setup looks pretty solid. I wouldn’t recommend the 7950X or 9950X though; higher core counts won’t benefit BeamNG as much as you think. Instead, the 7800X3D could be a better play with its 3D V-cache while still being powerful. Also, scaling back to a B650 motherboard and an 850W PSU could save you some cash—1000W is overkill unless you plan on some serious overclocking later!
Thanks for the tips! I was aiming for overkill while staying within budget. The 64GB RAM is mainly for show, but I appreciate your advice about the PSU; I’ll consider scaling back to save some cash. As the saying goes, 'The more you buy, the more you save!'
You might want to consider Arrow Lake CPUs if you’re really after high traffic in BeamNG. They seem to handle the game surprisingly well—check out some benchmark tests that show heavy traffic performance if you're curious. It's definitely worth a look if you're building a rig focused on this sim!
Exactly! BeamNG operates more like a physics simulator rather than a traditional game, so having a powerful CPU can definitely improve your experience.
