What’s the Best GPU for 1440p Gaming and Content Creation?

I'm building a PC for my girlfriend, who does some content creation and prefers great resolution for editing videos in 4K and 8K. She typically plays only two games, 'Where Winds Meet' and 'Genshin Impact'. Since she isn't a fan of large screens, we're looking at a maximum monitor size of 24" or 27". I've mentioned that there isn't much difference between 2K and 4K on these sizes, but she feels more comfortable with the 2K resolution due to the price difference. I plan to equip her build with an Intel i5 or i7 processor and at least 32 GB of RAM. I'm considering GPUs like the 9060 XT, 9070 XT, or RTX 4070 Ti Super, but I'm not particularly familiar with them. I'd appreciate recommendations for a GPU that can handle max settings at about 100 FPS for 1440p. I'm aiming for something budget-friendly that lasts over two years since we plan on moving abroad after that.

Honestly, I'm not the best to ask, but I've been using a 7800 XT for 1440p gaming, and it works quite well. However, for newer games and high FPS, it might struggle a bit. That said, I'm satisfied with it overall.

For 1440p gaming, I'd recommend either the 9070 XT or the 5070 Ti. There are numerous videos comparing their performances on YouTube. Since your girlfriend is into high-resolution video editing, going with an Nvidia card could be a better option for her workflow.

Just a heads up, is the 4070 Ti Super a used purchase? It’s been discontinued for over a year now, so make sure you check that before committing to it!

The 9060 XT with 16GB using FSR should be good enough, but if you can stretch for the 9070, it would be even better. The 9070 XT is definitely more than capable for 1440p and even 4K. With proper care, it should last you 5-10 years unless you're super demanding about performance.

I would actually suggest going for AM5 over the i7. They have new generations coming later this year, and for the GPU, I’d recommend something like the 4070 Ti or 9070 XT. By the way, I switched to a 31" 2K monitor and I'm loving it! 🙂

Among the options you've listed, the 4070 Ti Super delivers the best performance. However, I'd also recommend checking out the community resources, like build guides, which could help you decide.

If you’re focused on content creation, going with an Nvidia card is the way to go since they support hardware acceleration better. Check out on YouTube how the different GPUs perform in your girlfriend's games at 1440p. I’d wager that the 9060 XT is more than adequate, but keep in mind it isn’t Nvidia and benchmarks for the 5060 and 5060 Ti could provide useful comparisons.
