I'm currently using an Arc A770 16GB which has worked great for 1080p gaming. As I'm considering moving up to 1440p, I'm worried it might struggle despite its extra VRAM. I have some options in mind but might wait for better prices in the latter half of the year due to the ongoing GPU shortage. Here's what I'm considering: a used 6900 XT for around $420, a used 7800 XT for about $520, a nearly priced 7900 GRE at around $500, and the upcoming 9060 XT after more testing. I'm also thinking about waiting for a deal on the 9070 XT if prices drop closer to MSRP. I'm open to suggestions beyond these options, especially since I'm not opposed to NVIDIA even though their prices are currently inflated. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Just so you know, I play on a 34 inch ultrawide at 1440p with an RTX 3070, and it struggles to keep above 60-80 fps on medium/high settings. I'd probably suggest aiming for the 5070 if you're buying new, or at least the 4070 Ti if you're looking for used options.
Wait until you get that 1440p monitor! Test how your A770 handles it with settings adjusted to your liking. If it doesn’t cut it, then maybe look into the 9060 XT or a 9070. The 7900 GRE and 9070 XT might be overkill for 1440p anyway.
I think your Arc A770 can still hold its ground at 1440p. If you're okay with adjusting some settings, it should manage pretty well! But if you’re looking for an upgrade, the market is tough right now, so it might be best to stick with what you have for a while. Honestly, I'd consider a 5070 at MSRP if you can find one, instead of splurging on a 7800 XT for $520.
I've got the 7900 GRE, and it crushes 1440p gaming! I'd say go for it. It's puzzling why the 7800 XT costs more since the GRE performs slightly better. If you overclock the GRE, you might even match the performance of a 7900 XT!
If you're patient, waiting might pay off! If you want something immediately, go for the 7800 XT. But if you’re looking for a longer-term upgrade, consider keeping an eye on prices for new 4070s - you might score a good deal.
