Hey everyone! I currently have an Acer Aspire ES1-512 running Windows 10, but it's been really slow. I'm thinking about switching to Linux to see if it runs better. I'm considering Mint with XFCE, but I'd love to hear if anyone has other suggestions. Here are my specs: 8GB RAM, Intel Celeron N2840, 500GB HDD, and Intel HD Graphics. Thanks for the help!

Check out the distro selection page in our wiki for more options! And remember to back up your data regularly and test things in a virtual machine first. It's a smart way to play around without risking your main setup!
Mint XFCE is solid, but I think your laptop could also handle Cinnamon. When you boot into the installer, make sure everything like the WiFi and audio works in the live session. If you're considering upgrades, swapping your HDD for an SSD can massively speed things up!
MX Linux is a fantastic choice! It's lightweight and should work well on your hardware. Give it a go!
Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll check it out.

Thanks! I hear you on the SSD, but I'm looking for something budget-friendly since this is just my old laptop.
