I'm new to Linux and looking for the best version to install on an old laptop. I've read that Lubuntu should work, but I'm getting stuck at the loading GRUB screen. I've also tried Puppy Linux, but I can't figure out how to run it without the USB it's installed on. Here are my specs: Intel Celeron CPU 560 @ 2.13GHz with 1GB RAM. Right now, I'm using a streamlined version of Windows 10, which I believe is x64. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I’ve got a Linux laptop that's 22 years old, and it's been running great on Lubuntu 18.04 for over 5 years now, even with just 1GB of RAM! You can do basic tasks like note-taking, viewing images, watching movies, and even some DOS gaming. If you really have to, it’s possible to get online with a very basic browser, including some outdated HTML views of sites like YouTube.
You might want to check out MX Linux with the Fluxbox desktop, Bodhi Linux, or antiX. They should work really well on your machine.
Thanks! I'll definitely give MX Linux a try.

That's impressive! If Lubuntu works for your setup, maybe I did something wrong during my installation. What browser do you use for streaming? It must be a good one to handle YouTube.
