What’s the best Linux distro for streaming on an old laptop?

I have this ancient HP laptop with the following specs: Intel Pentium N3710 (integrated graphics), 4GB RAM DDR3, and a 500GB HDD with no dedicated GPU. I tried using AntiX, but I can't get hardware acceleration to work in any browser, making YouTube playback nearly impossible. I'm considering trying a lighter Ubuntu variant since I had success with Linux Lite on another similarly outdated laptop. Any suggestions for a distro that will let me enjoy YouTube without hassle? Thanks!

Firefox should handle video decoding fine on your setup, but since your GPU doesn't support VP9 or AV1, you'll need to get YouTube to use H.264 instead. Installing the h264ify extension can help with that.

It's been a while since I used AntiX, and I don't see why you should have an issue there. Have you checked out the AntiX forums? They might have some solutions specific to your setup.

You might want to try Linux Mint. It's pretty user-friendly and known for good performance, but keep in mind that sometimes the issue isn't just about the distro you choose.
