I'm looking for a smartphone that can last me a long time, ideally through 2025. I just need the basics like WhatsApp, a decent camera for video calls, and some banking apps like TransferWise. Does anyone know of a reliable phone like this?

For a long-lasting phone, focus on good hardware and the availability of updates. Apple's definitely a strong choice, but you could also look at Google Pixel and Samsung phones; they’re known for decent longevity in both hardware and software support.
I’d advise against Apple devices. They may be durable, but I just don’t vibe with them.
I'd recommend checking out a recently released Apple iPhone. Apple usually guarantees about five years of software updates, but many times they support their devices for 6-8 years. Plus, you get a three-year warranty, which is pretty solid. Just keep in mind that once it stops getting updates, it becomes more vulnerable to security issues and might not be able to run the latest apps.

But they really do last a long time! I still use my 4th gen iPad for reading.
