What’s the Best Media Server for Beginners?

I'm really enjoying Pop_OS on my laptop and I'm looking to set up a media server to upload my Blu-rays and DVDs. I'm not sure which media server would be best to use, and whether I need to install Docker for it. I tried Jellyfin before but got confused by the concept of localhost. I also downloaded Kodi but didn't organize the files specifically for it. Can anyone help guide me through setting this up?

It really depends on what devices you plan to use to access your media and how many files you have. Personally, I have Kodi set up on my desktop to share video files from my Videos directory, and I access that from my FireTV and other Android devices without any fancy setup. I don’t delve into Jellyfin or more complex systems anymore because Kodi suits my needs just fine. If you want, you can use 'sshfs' to mount your main PC for easier access without needing Kodi running all the time. It might take some research, but it’s not too difficult to figure out!

That sounds like a great idea, but I'm a bit worried since this is my first decent laptop. I'm concerned about organizing files properly, especially since I mostly just have school stuff right now. Would I need to create a separate folder for videos to be accessible by Kodi?
