Hey everyone! I'm looking for some guidance on my next steps in my IT career. I currently work in IT Support for a small team and have been in the field for almost two years. I hold my Network+ certification and I'm about to take the Security+ exam. I'm aware that specializing in a particular area is important, but with the fast pace of technological advancements, I'm feeling a bit lost on what to focus on next. What skills and certifications should I aim for that would secure long-term success in this industry? What do you recommend I do?

I think it's crucial to clarify what you want for your career. Don't let others dictate your path; take charge! If you're interested in security, that's a great area, but I've noticed many people are also diving into AI. Given your interest, maybe explore certifications in both security and AI technologies.
It really depends on whether you want to stay in IT Support or move into system administration. For now, I suggest you start learning about cloud platforms like Azure and consider getting certified in that area. In the long run, if you're looking to branch out into different fields, picking up a scripting language and getting familiar with development methodologies could lead you toward a DevOps role.
I'm kind of in a similar situation, working as a network admin and system admin. I'm also looking to transition into AWS cloud networking. The pay boost in that field is significant! If you have strong foundational skills in routers and server administration, transitioning to virtual environments isn't too challenging.
