I've just found out that my PC doesn't have the 32 GB of RAM I thought it did. Instead, I actually have 2 8 GB DDR4 sticks. This realization makes me think my PC isn't performing at its best since I built it. What would be the best upgrade option? Should I buy two additional 8 GB sticks at a low price from Facebook, or would that negatively impact my PC's performance? Or should I invest in two 16 GB RAM sticks instead? Thanks for any advice!

For gaming, 16 GB is usually plenty unless you like to run background programs at the same time. If you're mostly gaming, then adding more sticks won't dramatically boost performance but getting two more 8 GB sticks could still help. Just ensure they match your current RAM's specs for the best compatibility.
If you've built your PC in the last year, it shouldn't be underperforming as much as you think. But for the best performance, going with 2x16 GB is ideal. Mixing four sticks can drop your performance by about 5% due to potential mismatches.
If you're using an AM4 motherboard, you should be fine mixing sticks as long as they're the same brand and speed. The newer AM5 boards are a bit more sensitive to configurations, so you might lose some performance if you mix them up there. Just be sure to stick to the same speed!
That makes sense! But with the rampocalypse going on, finding the same brand can be tough. Is that a strict requirement?
Honestly, it's ridiculous how sensitive these boards can be. It feels punishing just trying to optimize performance!
Think of RAM like your PC's short-term memory. Depending on what you're using your PC for, 16 GB might be all you really need. Just check what kind of tasks regularly push you toward 32 GB.
The 1500 HD sticks are awesome! But I recommend getting matching specs for optimal results. I've had to manually tweak some settings in the BIOS before to stabilize mixed RAM setups. It can be finicky, but it’s doable.

I thought so! I figured having one weaker part could bottleneck the overall performance. Thanks for confirming!
