What’s the Best Way to Build a PC for Fortnite?

Hey everyone, I'm totally new to building PCs and have zero knowledge about the different components or what they do, like GPUs and RAM. My goal is to run Fortnite at 250 fps, and I'm working with a budget of around $600-$700. I've also got a monitor already. Should I just buy a pre-built PC instead? Any tips on how to go about this would be appreciated!

You could definitely do it yourself! Just make sure you research the main parts: you'll need a motherboard, CPU, GPU, RAM, power supply, and storage. Sites like PCPartPicker can help you visualize what you need and find compatible components. And check YouTube guides to prevent costly mistakes!

Great suggestions! I wish I had known about those resources earlier.

Thanks for that—way less intimidating with a guide!

Building from scratch is fun and educational but can be overwhelming! I started by taking apart an old junk PC, learning what everything did, and then upgrading gradually. If you really want a gaming machine without the hassle, pre-builts might be the way to go—especially if you value your time. Just ensure you check the specs to meet your Fortnite requirements!

Building a PC isn't as hard as it seems! First, I'd suggest searching "how to build a PC" on YouTube. There are tons of great guides, like Linus Tech Tips and BitWit, that walk you through everything step-by-step.
For Fortnite, you’ll want to look at recent benchmarks to decide on a GPU that can handle 250 fps. It might be worth considering a pre-built if you just want to jump in quickly—just avoid Alienware since they're tough to repair. Overall, take your time learning; it's pretty rewarding!

If all else fails, there's always the console route! You can get decent performance playing Fortnite with a gaming console and still connect a mouse and keyboard for that PC feel. But if you’re set on a PC, gather as much info as you can before committing. Good luck!

I didn’t think about that! Might be a good fallback option.

I agree, consoles are super easy but I'd love the experience of building my own PC.

Budget and location are important! If you don't need a new monitor, you can stretch your budget a bit further. Building your own PC is usually cheaper in the long run, but it does take some time. Just remember, inserting the CPU can be tricky, so be careful not to bend any pins!

Yeah, that’s the part that scares me the most!

Same here, I’d probably panic when doing that!
