I'm looking to connect my PC in my room to the TV in the living room. Would buying a long HDMI cable be a good solution? Also, I'm curious about the quality when using the PC on the TV. Any tips or alternative suggestions?

Using something like Moonlight or Sunshine can really enhance your experience! I’ve had a solid time streaming on my 4k TV at 60 fps with these options. It totally removes the hassle of long cables and will maintain good quality depending on your network.

The quality you're looking for really depends on your PC's output capabilities. Just like a monitor, a TV can perform well, but keep in mind there might be more input lag. If your PC isn't up to the task for 4k, you can lower the resolution to help with the output. Personally, I love using long optical HDMI cables, which have worked wonders for me over long distances without any issues. You could also look into options like streaming devices if that fits your needs better.

If you’re set on the HDMI route, measure your distance carefully! For long runs, a fiber optic HDMI is your best shot to avoid problems. Alternatively, consider a dedicated living room PC with all your old parts; it’s more wallet-friendly in the long run than troubleshooting long cables or streaming issues. Plus, it gives you that reliable console-like experience!
