I recently had to sign a new internet contract, but now my router is located in another room, pretty much at the opposite side of my house. Unfortunately, I can't run a LAN cable, and my older PC doesn't have a built-in WLAN card. I'm wondering what my best options are. Should I buy a WLAN card, and how difficult is it to install myself? Would a USB wireless adapter work better, maybe one with an antenna? I've also heard about PowerLan adapters but don't know how effective they are. What do you suggest?

USB wireless adapters are a solid choice! I’ve used them for years without any major issues. However, if you want a more permanent solution, consider getting an internal WLAN card. It’s pretty easy to install—just like any PCIe card, you pop it into a free slot and connect the antennas. I personally have the Aorus GC-WBAX210, and it works really well with Wifi6. Plus, there’s a newer Wifi7 version if you want the latest tech!
Thanks for the recommendation! What kind of range do you get with that card?
