Hey everyone! I'm trying to figure out how to route incoming emails to different printers in my accounting department. Right now, I'm using an Outlook plugin that runs 24/7 on a VM. It looks for emails in a shared mailbox that have *inv* and PDF attachments, prints those emails, and then moves them to another folder. However, this plugin tends to break a lot, especially after office updates, and reconfiguring it can be really time-consuming. I've looked into Outlook's message rules, but they don't provide the level of detail I need. The selection of useful plugins seems limited as well. So, what do you all use for this kind of task?

Honestly, I find the whole idea of printing emails for accounting kind of outdated. Why not just scan invoices directly? It's more environmentally friendly and saves resources. But if you really need to print, maybe scripting something with bash could do the trick? You can filter emails and send attachments to printers using commands like 'lp'.
I think sticking with those plugins is tricky since they don’t always align with modern practices. Providing more background on why the invoices need to be printed could help find better solutions.
I used to work with an app called Automatic Email Manager. It's lightweight and lets you send emails to different printers. It can handle attachments too, which is great for PDFs! Seems like a solid option if you're looking for alternatives.
I totally agree with some concerns here. Printing emails seems pretty wasteful. Have you guys considered just monitoring the mailbox and going digital? It might be a better approach in the long run.
