What’s the Best Wireless Device for Presenting from Laptops to TVs?

Asked By QuirkyEagle77 On

We're looking to upgrade our current setup where we use HDMI cables to connect laptops to TVs or projectors in our meeting rooms. Ideally, we want a device that plugs directly into the TV, allowing laptops to connect via WiFi and project their screens wirelessly. We prefer something with installed software rather than just a dongle, and it would be a bonus if it can work on both corporate and guest networks. Does anyone have recommendations for reliable devices that fit this description?

We’re currently using Kindermann devices and they’ve been pretty nice for our setup.

Just a heads up, Microsoft’s display adapters are off the market now. A good alternative could be found with J5Create, though!

If you’re looking for a more cost-effective solution, a lot of modern office TVs with WiFi already have built-in streaming capabilities from Windows. You might want to check if your TVs support that functionality!

You mean Miracast, right? That could be a good route for OP. If their display doesn't support it, they might consider getting a Miracast dongle.

Barco ClickShare is a solid option, though it’s not the cheapest out there. You’ll appreciate the investment after everything’s set up, trust me!

We’ve had experience with both ClickShare and Crestron. ClickShare seems a bit more user-friendly, but both serve their purpose pretty well.

For a simple setup, a standard Wireless HDMI transmitter and receiver could do the trick without the need for software. If you're looking for something versatile, ChromeCast or any smart TV with built-in apps works great too!

From my experience renting rooms at a local cinema, their switch to wireless screen projection was not ideal. They mirrored the laptop screen without the functionalities we needed from our presentation software. HDMI connections were much better for our use case!

I’d recommend ClickShare! Once I installed it in one conference room, I ended up putting it in all of them because it's just that handy! Though, keep in mind that if you're using a Mac, it might be a bit tricky, based on some experiences I've heard.

Yeah, we had a tough time with ClickShare in our Mac environment too. We eventually switched to using a Zoom Room setup combined with Apple Play, which has worked much better for us.

We just made the switch from ClickShare to Crestron recently and love it! They offer dongles too, but with no software required. It works seamlessly with iOS, Android, and Mac devices.

We use Mersive Solstice and it works without much fuss. Definitely worth checking out if you want something straightforward!
