What’s the Difference Between USB WiFi Adapters and PCIe WiFi Cards?

I'm curious about the differences between a USB WiFi adapter and one that plugs directly into a PCIe slot on my motherboard. From what I remember, PCIe cards were generally considered superior in the past. Also, I'm wondering if there's any point in upgrading my WiFi card after 10 years. Currently, I'm getting speeds of around 70 Mbps, but I'm not sure if newer cards provide a more stable connection or any other benefits. Any advice?

Do you really need more than 70 Mbps on your device? If it's sufficient for what you do, then you're likely fine. However, older hardware can sometimes introduce lag or security concerns. If you don't game much and things are working okay most of the time, it might not be worth the hassle to upgrade.

If you're just looking for basic functionality, either option should work fine. But if you need optimal performance, the PCIe card is the way to go. Regarding upgrading after 10 years, unless your current card has issues, there's usually no need. But do consider that stability can sometimes be affected by other factors, like your router. Are you facing consistent connectivity problems?
