I've been experimenting with ChatGPT's image creation feature—nothing serious, just some fun projects like turning my kid into a cartoon and putting him on the moon, or drawing an anime-style Lamborghini Diablo. However, I ran into an issue where it keeps telling me I'm in a cooldown period for image generation. Every time I check, it says "You're currently within the cooldown period for image generation. You'll be able to request a new image once the limit resets — which was 15 hours and 41 minutes from your last request." This has been going on for a couple of days, and the timer never seems to change. Is the timer resetting every time I try again? And why such a specific and long cooldown, especially for the free version?

If you're getting stuck in there, try starting a new session altogether. Sometimes it helps to get a fresh instance if the old one is flooded with 'please wait' messages.
It sounds like high server traffic could be messing with the timer. Even if you haven't hit your generation limit, so many users could cause delays. That specific 15 hours and 41 minutes seems off, but maybe it's just the system struggling to keep up with the requests during busy times.
I checked the TOS, and it actually states the cooldown for the free version should only be 5 hours. It's frustrating that it keeps resetting to that long stretch, especially when you're just trying to have fun!
Honestly, it might just be a glitch. It feels like it doesn’t even recognize the correct cooldown period and keeps throwing out that random time. The best bet is to just wait and try again later.
Aren't 48 hours already long enough to be 'later'? It’s annoying when technology doesn’t work as expected.
Oh, good idea! I hadn’t thought of that—thanks for the tip!
