I accidentally plugged a USB-C cable into the USB-A port on my PC's rear I/O, and it shut down immediately. I'm worried that I might have damaged it. Is my PC done for? Also, I should mention that I did manage to get it working again by unplugging it and holding the power button down for 10 seconds. What does that mean?

I've seen this happen before too! If your PC just turns off and doesn't power back on, a reset like you did often fixes the issue. Just be careful not to make a habit of plugging in the wrong cables!
It sounds like you had a small scare there! The good news is that holding down the power button for 10 seconds to reset it worked for you, which means it might not be fried. Just make sure you're careful with your ports. If it happens again, try unplugging it from the wall and then powering it back on.
Honestly, it’s pretty hard to permanently damage a PC that way. If it powered back on after holding the button, it’s likely just a protective shutdown. Just keep an eye on it, and if any weird problems keep popping up, then you might have to look deeper.
I’ve been in a similar boat before. Sometimes when you connect things incorrectly, the PC just shuts down as a safety measure. Usually, it’s just a temporary issue, so it's great to hear that you got it back up and running!
