I'm curious about how folks approach backups in Azure when you have a Prod subscription that covers various workloads like Azure VMs, containers, and storage accounts across multiple resource groups (RGs). In your setup, do you consolidate backups into a single resource group with a backup vault managed by a specific team, or do you create separate vaults in each RG to accurately charge different business units? Additionally, how do you handle backups if you're using multiple subscriptions? Who's accountable for those backups, the backup team or the subscription owner?

In our setup, each RG corresponds to a specific application or function, and we assign a dedicated vault for each. This ensures proper billing since each RG can charge the right department for its backup costs, especially for project-based RGs not tied to daily operations. It's a bit of work to manage many vaults, but it keeps everything clear during billing cycles.
Thanks for sharing! Just to clarify, when a new RG gets created with a request for backups, does that automatically trigger the creation of a new vault? And if the RG owner needs to recover something, who helps them with that process?
