When is the actual last update for Windows 10 before EOL?

With Windows 10 reaching its End of Life (EOL) on October 14, there's a lot of confusion about the last update. Microsoft typically rolls out updates on the second Tuesday of the month, which falls on October 10 this year, but is October 14 still valid for the final patch? Will there be any updates afterward without Extended Security Updates (ESU)? I would love to get clarity on when exactly the last update happens and what we should expect post-EOL.

Yes, you’ll receive the October update on the 14th, which is the last one you’ll get. After that date, unless you have ESU, no more updates will be provided.

So yeah, October 14 is basically the last update date, but your first missed patch will be on November 11 if you aren’t using ESU. Just keep an eye on compliance!

Totally agree! We've been treating October 14 as a soft deadline and November 11 as a hard one.

The last update would be on October 14th. If there’s a major vulnerability discovered right after, it won't get patched unless you have ESU. Just a heads up!

But didn't Microsoft release patches for XP and 7 after EOL due to major exploits? Can we expect something similar for Windows 10?

It's interesting because Windows 10 has such a high market share right now. They might feel pressured to release something if a serious vulnerability is found.

You’re correct! You can expect the October update, but without ESU, there’s no November update coming your way. Time to plan ahead!
