I'm looking to upgrade my CPU from an R5 3600 to either a Ryzen 7 5700 or 5700X for my X470 motherboard. I have a budget of around $220 and want to avoid scams, especially since I've noticed many listings on sites like eBay, Amazon, and Newegg seem sketchy. How can I find a legit seller and ensure I'm not buying a faulty product?

Just a heads-up: The 5700 is actually a Cezanne chip (the 5700G) with the iGPU turned off. It’s not much of an upgrade over the 3600 for gaming, and it doesn’t support PCIe 4.0. Go for the 5700X, or consider a 5800 series chip. eBay can be decent if you choose sellers with a good track record and positive feedback, plus their refurbished program is pretty trustworthy too.
Avoid the Ryzen 7 5700; it's not what you want! Look for either the 5700X, 5800X, or even a 5800XT—and go for the cheapest one. If you're on Amazon, buy items that are sold and shipped by them to ensure you can return it if there are issues. Newegg's the same way—just play it safe!
Your X470 should handle a 5800XT with ease! And if you want to tune a 5700X, you can always tweak the settings to improve performance. Just keep in mind that 5700Xs are kind of scarce right now, so act fast if you find one!
I snagged a 5800XT for my daughter for just $100 on Facebook Marketplace recently! Check there too, but just keep an eye on the pins to make sure they’re all good. For about $150, you can definitely grab a 5700X or 5800X without too much hassle.

I see tons of 5700X options on Amazon and Newegg, but a lot seem to be from sellers with questionable reviews.
