Hey everyone! I've been out of the PC building game for a bit, and I'm considering an upgrade. Currently, I have an AMD 5900x with 32GB RAM on an ASUS DARK HERO X570 and an RTX 5080. I'm thinking about moving to a 9800X3D while keeping my GPU. I've had a bad experience with GIGABYTE in the past over LAN driver issues, but I'm seeing high ratings for them lately on various sites. Can you help me decide between the GIGABYTE X870 AORUS ELITE WIFI7 and the ASUS ROG STRIX X870-A GAMING WIFI? Also, are the 6000 CL30 RAM options worth it since prices seem to be soaring? Is this upgrade going to be a noticeable improvement for my gaming setup? Thanks a lot!

I'd lean towards GIGABYTE for this one. I recently heard about some issues with ASUS boards frying the 9800X3D CPUs — could be something to look into if you care about reliability. And yeah, 6000 CL30 DDR5 is a solid choice; it really does hit the sweet spot for AMD setups!
I thought it was ASRock that had those issues, not ASUS!
Just a heads up! While ASUS products are usually great, their RMA process outside of Europe can be a hassle. If you want white schemes, you might consider the MSI MPG X870E EDGE TI. Plus, they have some cool deals right now, which is a bonus!
I've stuck with ASUS for 15 years because their warranty has been fantastic for me, but I'll look into MSI since they’re running discounts.
Your current setup is already pretty powerful! If you're not experiencing any gaming issues, you might want to hold off on upgrading for a year or so, especially waiting for RAM prices to drop. Paying $400 for 32GB is pretty steep right now!
No issues on my end, just exploring options after seeing some sweet builds. But I hear you on the RAM prices — it's wild!
Totally agree! RAM prices are out of hand right now; it's definitely making me hesitate too.

Wait, is that really happening? I just built two systems for friends using ASUS boards and those 9800X3Ds.
