Which Bootloader Should I Choose: Limine or Systemd-boot?

I recently installed CachyOS on a computer and went with the default bootloader, systemd-boot. Now, I'm planning to set up CachyOS on another machine, and I've noticed the latest version has switched the default bootloader to Limine. Given my machine uses UEFI and not BIOS, should I opt for Limine or stick with systemd-boot? I've heard that Limine supports btrfs snapshots as well. What are btrfs snapshots, and why would I want to use them? Also, I've read that while Limine has more features, systemd-boot might perform better. Is that true, or would the difference be negligible for everyday use?

I'd definitely recommend Limine. With btrfs snapshots, you get a robust way to create backups of your system states—kind of like a system restore point in Windows, but typically more efficient. While there are other methods for snapshots and rollbacks, Limine's support for this feature makes it a solid choice for managing your installation's safety and recovery options. Plus, it’s a newer bootloader, which might mean better support and updates down the line!

Thanks for the clarity! So, snapshots sound like a big plus. Would you say that makes Limine the go-to option for someone new to Linux like me?

Limine is definitely the way to go, no doubt about it! It's got more to offer, and since you're on UEFI, you won't face any compatibility issues. Seriously, it's a solid upgrade over systemd-boot.
