Which CPU and GPU combo is better for 1440p gaming: 9700X + 5070Ti or 9800X3D + 9070XT?

I'm trying to decide between two setups for my gaming rig: either the 9700X with the 5070Ti or the more powerful 9800X3D paired with the 9070XT. I want to stick to my budget, so I can't go for the 9800X3D and 5070Ti combo. I'm looking for the best option for 1440p gaming at 144Hz, especially since I mostly play AAA titles and some multiplayer games like Marvel Rivals, The Finals, and COD for fun. I also do a bit of video editing on Premiere Pro, but nothing too demanding like 3D animation. I'd love some insights on which pairing would perform better!

Why not consider saving up for the 9800X3D instead of rushing? Alternatively, you could look into the 4070 Ti Super, which is similar to the 5070 Ti, but I'd stick with the 9800 combo if you're serious about gaming.

I hear you on saving, but my wallet says I need to act fast! Can't stretch the budget any further right now.

The 4070 Ti isn't ideal anyway; it's not going to perform as well as the 5070 Ti in most cases!

The 9800X3D paired with the 9070XT is definitely the way to go! It’s got the edge in performance, especially for high refresh rate gaming and it will handle AAA titles like a champ. Just seems like a better combo overall if you’re looking for smooth gameplay.

Totally agree! The 9800 seems to be a beast and will give you that extra kick in performance.

If your main focus is competitive gaming and you want high refresh rates, the 9800X3D combo is preferable. However, for sheer quality and stability, the 9700X with the 5070Ti is a solid choice, especially for 1440p gaming.

I’d suggest going with the 5070Ti. It's got better support for DLSS, which will be helpful in many games. Just be cautious with mods like FSR4; some games might flag them as cheats.

Yeah, but FSR4 support will definitely grow as the new RDNA4 cards come out. We just have to be patient!

If you're not set on path tracing at high frame rates, the 9800X3D with the 9070XT combo is my pick; it will outshine the 9700X and 5070Ti in most scenarios, especially since you're on a budget.
